The non-turbo 2G coupes had a Plymouth / Dodge drivetrain (I had one in HS '05-07).
The convertibles have an actual mitsu drivetrain which I understand was more reliable. That said it's basically scrap 25 years later.

I had multiple ones, both na and turbo, from both generations but never touched a modded one and never would.
If you are looking for a project dont bother with it. The only ones worth it now are the ones that survived being modded to death by retards thinking they are civics and the more stock the better, everything else is overpriced beat garbage instead of just overpriced high mileage.
Back in the day you used to just have to look out for the legit abused to death ones now they are all at the age where the road is trying to reclaim them. Rust wasnt a big deal on these unless you were in the saltiest parts of america but now you have them with rotted towers all over the place.
