Lexus is slow and has boring, mass-produced interior. With Mercs you can choose between many different engines and customize interior to your liking.Choice seems obvious.Until your car is an investment to you, because Lexus is more reliable. But then, if you're a poorfag, then you should use public transport anyway.

I suppose if you're a vapid glass tapper who primarily exists through phone apps and their associated services, with little interest in anything of substance, these brands do offer plenty of glass to tap and digital products & services to consoom.

Everyone one of my upper class friends drive American cars, either from sport segments (Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, etc) or Luxury (Cadillac, high trim GMCs and whatever). Genuinely have only seen minorities (women in particular) drive German cars.

No auto brands are reliable today and really none of them have been for the past couple of decades, unless you live in a place where Sunnys, Juniors, Land Cruisers, Carrys/Everys, etc are still made like they have been for many years. At least I would define reliability as the ease of working on a car and CVT work is something that I dread, same with digital displays.Once upon a time, there was a point when Mercedes Benz made the most reliable cars (up until the advent of the W210, really). Hell, there are still W123s and W124s being used as taxis in certain parts of the world to this very day because of this. BMW, Audi and Porsche (the other makes often mentioned on /o/) have never really been all that reliable, or at least, they have never been known for being reliable. VW and Opel on the other hand were up until the early 1990s, fairly reliable cars.

I know of Japanese autos and can tell you this...
Suzuki's tend to have body and at worst the oil pan rust out under you. Had to replace the oil pan around the same time I replaced the timing belt.And before you go "Toyotas are most reliable" I'll tell you I had a RAV4 that the water pump failed after just 5 years of owning it brand new. It's cooling system was never the same after that.ALL cars have their issues.
Yet my VW, 8 years old, 100,000 miles on it and still going strong.

This is a weird American mindset. Anyone who isn't broke in EU drives a MB/Audi/BMW, the broke ones something like a VW/Toyota. German cars are a perfect combination of comfort, interior and power.
There really isn't anything to choose instead, what do the Americans who aren't broke even drive in US, I have no idea. Oh yeah it's a German car. Anti-German car is poor cope.

Eastern euro here. I see 30+ german shitboxes in various stages of decay all the time. In contrast the japanese cars are much newer, usually 2010+, and most of them burn insane amounts of oil. Driving behind a toyota uphill is an actual health hazard. German engineering > whatever the fuck they do in asia.

german auto industry is (or at least was) the most varied in the world, little bit for everyone, you had/have supecars, muscle cars, suvs, luxury sedans, normal sedans, fwd,rwd,awd,v12 diesels, w12 petrol, v10 diesel, v10 petrol, big v8s etc.
