Have you had any close calls? I was t-boned by a car at speed but just rolled over the hood and had some physio sessions

Partner was hit by turning car where moronic driver didn't turn head to check for pedestrians, got a 25k settlement through lawyer (they took 1/3 for work on contingency). The insurance company offered nothing at first and told her to fuck off

As a cyclist I have near misses every month, commuting as I do through a busy town during both school runs. Normally it's women who seemingly have zero situational awareness. Or shit-skins, who are just dumb.Fortunately I'm extremely good at reading the road and see shit before it happens. Something I attribute to my time as a London fixie riding courier in the late 90s.

Just tonight I ran a red after hesitating, thinking "As soon as I pull out, there's gonna be a bus right there."There was a bus right there.

Numerous ones over the years. But the closest would have to be me as a pedestrian one August afternoon in 1991 waiting for the crossing light. I was standing on this island waiting to cross road on right when I saw a young female driver blow thru the red light across street and t-bone a car approaching from my left. I instantly saw the t-boned car veering towards me and I had just enough time & reflexes to jump behind this light standard when the vehicle hit it and was stopped. One helluva bang! I was less than 2 feet away and was showered head to toe in hot coolant, glass and shards of plastic. I had some some minor 1st degree burns and the picked some glass out of my scalp. I was washing glass and pieces of platic out of my hair for 2 days. To this day I place myself so that the pole is between me and the traffic flow.

I've been t boned twice, first time I want wearing a helmet and the back of my head the ground, instant lights out. Surprisingly I didn't die. Second time I just bounced off the car. Both times I recovered in about a week. As a full time courier of over 10 years, I've hit the ground more times than I can remember, I have scars I don't remember how, but every incident are I ride a little more paranoid, the way I ride now is oddly safe for as reckless as I am

Yeah, fell asleep while driving through a tunnel, woke up because there were these safety bumps in the middle of the road, shaking the car, which made me go back onto my lane. 3 seconds later and I would have frontaled a huge truck inside a tunnel, which would have turned me into flesh sauce. Don't drink and drive, but I think tired and drive is WAY more dangerous because you underestimate it so much. Also thank you whoever invented those tunnel midroad bumps
