he was in an echo chamber. Comparing cars vs. gravel trucks against cars vs. bicycles isn't a fair comparison because our legal system considers cars to be first class citizens. In order to drive a 16 wheeler, you need a special CDL whereas any normal car you just need to parallel park once in 11th grade.Forester didn't consider cyclists who died to be human. neither does our legal system. but we do consider motorists who kill cyclists to be human

And how much are you getting honked at grandpa? I don't think I've gone a day in my life without breaking the speed limit unless you count days not driving. You catch the blame for crashes if you're "just following the speed limit" if the other cars are going 90 and you decided to go 55 because muh rules of the road

bike lanes are good but most cities do them badly on purpose. they're only good when they are point-to-point along major corridors (where cyclists are least safe due to traffic) and should have both cycling lanes on the same side of the street, that side being whichever one has the most useful left turns on it. anything else results in overcomplicated intersections and even more dangerous turning for everybody and cyclists rolling the wrong way down the paths and cagers parking in the bike lanes and shitalso ridiculous faux roundabout crossings like picrel are a fucking meme and overcomplicate the intersection. you may as well just tell cyclists "get off and walk with the peds LOL" at which point some karen will freak out at you for being on the sidewalk for a moment anywayjust let cyclists enter the left lane to turn left like everyone else. either place the car stop line back so cyclists can get ahead of the lead car to turn safely, or just let cyclists enter traffic when necessary
