nothing is ever worth upgrading. Other than the lack of pedals, fenders, rack. and bottle cages. Reason being: OEM get's a muchbbetter price buying at scale. So if you want something make sure its part of the prebuilt you're buying. Then ride and as things break you get to choose which parts to swap in instead up to the point where it's financially unreasonable and you just get a new bike.

updooting to hydraulic brakes would be great but also economically unfeasible. i have the same issue with my 2.0 which is similar but with 1x10 microshift drivetrain and carbon fork. i would like better brakes but i would have to get new brifters/derailleur/crank... which costs almost the same as the whole bike did.just get good tires and go toobless, it will improve your comfort a lot

I want a bike to take on these longer rides that can handle dirt roads. Maybe one day some touring or overnight trips. Okay my lads, I'm possibly on the market for a new weekend rider, thinking of upgrading my ole faithful endu/gravel whatever it was marketed as way back when. Thinking going carbon (from alu), hydro discs (from mechs), wide-ish tyres (32 mm been working fine for me up to now). I even picked a bicycle that ticks ALL my checkboxes and still fits WITHIN the set budget. Why posting this? It checks the "internal cable routing" box as well and I rather it didn't. Absolute meme. Completely unnecessary for me. And to make things worse, it's the most up-to-date iteration of the bullshit. Cables routed tightly under the stem and into head tube. I can see them cracking from here. On the old bike, I have NOT changed the cables /housings because they were routed so lax (under downtube) I have had 0 issues whatsoever. But this crap looks (and most likely is) as if it was made specifically to make me mad and waste money replacing them cables ever other season. So the question is, any of you fellers been riding a modern bike long enough to test if the weakpoint is as weak as I imagine? Especially concerning with hydro brakes - don't fancy them breaking somewhere inside the frame, leaking and killing me in the process. Please, help a /n/igga out. Cheers!

I have these absolute dogshit chinese mech brakes on an otherwise decent bike, the cables run through the frame and i assume I need to take them out and replace them so that sounds like the hardest part. I assume mounting is standardized if I want something like TRP spyre?

the important thing here is to imagine how the brake itself works, and try to identify what part of the process of it merely existing is failing, let alone closing it and what is failing there. the whole thing may be generally bad in a lot of ways, but it is often possible to identify the aspect that is failing hardest and rectify that before moving on to other issues.looking at it again, it is very odd that you can so easily move the arm around by hand. it might not be that it's "rubbing" and more that the brake is free-floating. can you adjust the brake such that it is closed all the time? start there and work backwards, maybe
