Started to notice the non-drive side of my Hollowtech bottom bracket start to wobble when I pedal. When I pulled out the shell, I noticed the threads were damaged. Can a shop still salvage this? Frame is steel chromoly if that helps.

Do you guys have a Google Maps to .GPX file converter that you use? I was using https://mapstogpx.com/ all summer, and it was really convenient because I could do it all on my phone, so if I wanted to change destinations or something I could make a new route on the fly.Since a couple weeks ago I've been getting this error (pic rel) and I haven't been able to fix it. I think Google changed something in the Maps API code and broke the format that the converters were using. I tried a few other sites that do the same thing and none of them work now.I was able to get it working using "Google My Maps" (completely different site) and this converter: https://www.alltrails.com/converterBut there's no mobile version of My Maps so I have to do the route from my PC before I leave. I'd really like to find another conversion tool that works from my phone.

Ok hear me out, I've got an old steel frame that I was planning on converting to single speed and I came across the idea of making it a dingle speed/fixed just like Sheldon's Brown fixed/one-two-three speed bicycle.I found this NOS Regina two speed freewheel that I think would work pretty well for it, and a fixed cog on the other side of the hub. What I'm worried about is chain line and the possibility of dropping the chain especially on the two speed side. What are your thoughts about this (and possibly other issues I'm not considering) anons?

brainlet here, lost my single speed to urban yoof recently and want a new one. My understanding is single speeds are very much barebones, two wheels + freewheel, pedals, chains, frame, saddle, bar. I could drop a couple hundred $ on a prebuilt chinkware in the local bike shop and it would serve my needs well but
1. I'm pretty sure they are overpriced
2. Would like to customize it a bit, especially making it as light as possible. These basic bikes are like 10-12 kgs.Is there something like a bike part picker where I can just cut the final middleman, order the pieces and assemble them myself? I'm in yurop if that matters. Am I retarded? I tried to set the sag on my rear shock for my mtb. Used a shock pump, set it to the correct settings for myself, and went for a ride on some trails. By the end of it, the shock was bottoming out hard- it lost all the air. Tried it again, and overnight it lost air and bottoms out whenever I sit on the bike. This is a new bike with a new shock- a cheap-ass suntour raidon lo- so my guess is that it's a factory defect, unless I fucked something up when I set the rebound damping.
Should I try to fix this, or is it worth it to eat a 500 dollar charge and get a better mid-range fox shock?

quick question about read derailleur maintenance. mine doesn't want to move all the way out (away from the chainstays) unless I physically move it with my hand. so I can't shift to the smallest cogs on the casette. assumably too much friction in the derailleur joints due to dirt, so the spring isn't strong enough to move it properly.I cleaned the joints with wd40 and later applied chain oil to the joints, but it's not fixing the issue. is it possible to fix this or is the derailleur ready for the bin?

I'm taking the bike to a shop for a complete check and maintenance, pic related. If it comes out ok, I'll keep it as is until something breaks. I'm gonna get it fitted as well, and I might pick up a new saddle if they strongly recommend one which fits my bum more.
Besides what I've already mentioned, is there anything else I should do or check for the sake of safety/comfort before I start cycling?

Tricky decision for me, can /n/ weigh in pls?I built this gravel/tourer weenie years ago as a dumb teen who'd gotten paid. SRAM red cranks, shifter and rd, deore XT hub, carbon wheels, ti frame, juin tech brakes. The most quality and lightest stuff I could afford at the time, prolly 1.2k, folly of youth.The issue is I "ratted" a lot of it - shaved metal, ghetto drillium, stripped paint and repainted ugly rust colours etc. The read wheel is spray foam and duct tape. The ti frame has very ghetto cutouts in the headstock and bottom bracket for weenie purposes. So 90% of parts are unsellable.Nowadays money is tight and priorities have shifted. I no longer ride this fella, commute a lot and don't have the house space for him.
I'm building a knockoff/2nd hand brompton folder now as my main bike, and will be using almost the same setup as this - same bars, cranks, disc brakes, rear hub, cassette, derailleurs, seat n post, cables, etc. If you were in my shoes, would you cannibalise this unused, unsellable but excellent bike for the new project or leave it intact and put it in storage for a future use I can't foresee? The brompton doesn't need such fancy parts, but they happen to fit the build requirements perfectly.Thanks /n/eighbours

I got a chink e-bike off of some dude. I finally got around to picking up new fittings for the dumbass battery, which according to every review I can find online is dogshit. I would like to be able to track and record my rides for two reasons. First, to see if I'm improving, and second, to add an element of fun seeing if I can beat my past records. Metrics I would like to see are:

>cadence
>distance
>elevation
>speed
I don't have any devices or sensors to achieve this other than my phone(iPhone). I don't need the most accurate professional grade measurements. I have also never used any fitness thingamagijs including any fitness watch or cycling computers.
From all the videos and product spec sheets I've looked at, it seems like the cheapest Apple Watch (SE 3) plus a cadence and speed sensor will get me what I want in the most convenient manner given that the watch hooks up with my phone easily, displays everything nicely, and records everything natively. Bonus points for not needing to mount one more thing on my bike and being useful for other activities (I lift, home gym).
Are there arguments for a dedicated cycling computer other than that it mounts on a bike with a larger screen than the watch so you can also use it as a map?

How bad can I fuck my bottom bracket before it's not recoverable?I have a trek checkpoint alr with a pressfit BB, which means I don't want to deal with this fucker myself. The last time I gave it any thought was almost a year ago, when it needed replacing. I don't do much maintenence on the bike as I usually don't catch much rain with it, but I don't quite get what could cause the BB or the bearings to grip or malfunction outside of dirt and debris.I've removed the cranks to clean everything once a month, so I'm led to believe this shouldn't be an issue overall, anything else I can do to improve the lifespan of the BB?Also, fuck pressfit.
