I think you mean a "plackart". The reserved seat is still widely used in our country, but we do not have trains that have a reserved seat but no compartment — there is always the option to choose a compartment, but recently some trains do not have a reserved seat. A plackart is 1.5 - 2 times cheaper than a coupe, and I think that a reserved seat is still not such a bad option for transportation. But there are seats on two trains that leave the departure city at 22 PM and arrive at the final destination at 6 AM.

From what it seems on the map three lines ought to pass through there.Also question: Apart from the suburban elektrichkas is there much regional rail service around moscow (not long distance)?

Despite me mentioning the above types, they are few and far between. In fact, I am homesick enough to import model airplanes of the aircraft of the past. My favorite is the oкypoк as we used to call it (yak-40 is the technical name). For Westerners, it was an airliner that seated about 30 people, but it had three jet engines. Its smoke could be seen for miles around. They were still flying the last time I checked, despite being a 50 year old design at this point. Not for Aeroflot, but still flying nevertheless.

Moscow Monorail has ceased operation. They're going to convert it into an elevated park instead. They decided on a very short notice, people were notified only a day in advance, so there's definitely some shenanigans abound. I was busy that day so I couldn't come but I've heard that trains were super packed. But on the other hand, it was already on its last legs because they decided to make everything bespoke instead of buying an existing system and then failed to procure even replacement parts, nevermind new rolling stock, and most of its route is doubled up by a tram that literally goes right underneath for most of the route, so not a big loss for transit. RIP to yet another gadgetbahn.
