ive heard all the peter sotos stuff defended by people for either just being edgelord shit or some kind of interest in the depravity of pedos from some kinda artsy perspective rather than just wanting to fuck kids or whatever. I haven't cared enough about it to look into it myself, but I have booked a ton of of noise shows and so many of those people larp as serial killers and pedos for their album aesthetic, like they just wanna make a fucked up looking piece of work or something. All I know about Albini is that he said "i like that sort of thing" about sotos's work. When a bunch of noise dorks are trying to be transgressive it's impossible to know what's sincere or not.
That said when he died I saw a lot of people hating on him for that statement, and an equal amount of people ignoring it. I dunno if he really gets a pass, I think it's just kinda up in the air
