What have you been listening to recently, /mlp/? I decided to give the remastered/completed elements album a listen earlier. I think for the most part they are improvements (why the fuck did they add that screamy shit to loyalty though that ruined a fantastic song, and generosity definitely needs those female vocals for rarity's part), + I love how well honesty and magic fit in, they are really cheesy and slot in perfectly. I especially like how magic incorporates "elements" of the other tracks, reminds me of the standard model. Also, if anyone would be interested in this, I asked around 3 years ago if they were going to do a run of cds for the album, and they told me they had a bunch pressed and made and they were waiting for some kind of event to start selling them. but as far as i know they never did.

was listening to Ghosts and Waterfalls by Metajoker yesterday, really just a collection of most of his songs that weren't on an album. I really think Metajoker is one of the most underrated pony musicians out there. everyone knows him for Universe and Become (with Respin), but everything the man touches is gold. the songs are catchy, they're complex and intricate, the lyrics are thoughtful, just everything about them are great. we really are blessed to have a musician like this in the fandom.https://metajoker.bandcamp.com/album/ghosts-and-waterfalls

I really like Elements yeah, probably also my most listened pony album. I can practically play the whole thing in my head by now. In my opinion, they improved on Generosity and Laughter, but Loyalty and Kindness are a little worse than the originals. There's just some kind of soul in those two songs that they don't manage to fully replicate, despite the objectively higher production value. I also don't really like the screamy part, but I tolerate it. I like the new tracks a lot too, though it's a shame that Honesty is so short compared to the rest of the tracks. The motific references in Magic are quite magical indeed and really tie the whole thing together. 9/10 album. Shame the CD's never came to fruition, I would absolutely buy one.

I fucking love this album and listen to it all the time. I do agree that Generosity is much better with Rarity's duet at the end, and also man Laughter needs the 8-bit smile song shit so bad, but I love this album. I dunno if you noticed, but the whole album is seemingly both capturing aspects of the pony community and what the characters feel like to someone who's at their lowest. The album is full of allusions to suicide, with a good half or more of the tracks referencing some level of despair or idea of giving up.Honesty's "when you're out there feeling lonely, just know that you have a family waiting for you" captures how I've felt about /mlp/ since the early days in 2012 and it gets me choked up every time I hear it, and the lyrics to Laughter are right to the point about finding escape from despair (as Ponk's song should be) and are really special and relatable to me. Magic is just an outright love letter to the fandom, seemingly referencing the idea of it dying (the remake was made in 2022, when the pony renaissance wasn't as big of a thing as it is now). The "now we stand hand in hand, side by side, we're at our strongest when we unite" is one of the sweetest things ever considering pony culture was and still is often loaded with social outcasts and people who don't belong. Friendship is something many of us felt like we'd never have, but together we ended up finding it, and I love that.Yeah I know this post is mushy but poni means a shitload to me kek. This album is extremely heartfelt when you dig into it. The comparison to Standard Model is great, too - when showing my friend FiM for the first time, I put in the Standard Model tracks after each of the Mane 6's big episodes, and in Season 2 I used this album instead in the same way given the bigger energy S2 had.
