This has finally realeased on streaming, and no one on /m/ is discussing it.
I mean, I can't blame you, I tried watching it and it's awful, just unwatchable garbage.
I can't believe they spent nearly 5 years in post doing those awful effects, my theory is that they realized the movie was bad, and kept pushing the release foward as a way to somehow preserve JDF's legacy by not having this movie come out right after his death.

Kinda surprised to see Mike Dacascos there, I know he was on Kamen Rider Dragon Knight back in the day, but he has been in actual movies, he was the main villain in John Wick 3 not long before this movie was filmed. And it's not like he's an unbearable druggie that only Tarantino likes, like Michael Madsen.
Less surprised to see David Ramsey there, although it still feels like a step down from CW super hero drama, but it's not like he'll ever get his Green Lantern show that was teased at the finale of Green Arrow.

I can have fun with a bad movie, but 15 maple crusted beaver pelts is a whole fucking lot more than I'm willing to pay for the privilege.

God his hair was so stupid at the time they filmed this. He looks like someone the hero fights in a bar, not the main man.

It's not even like fun cheesy like the Guyver movies. It takes itself way too seriously and watching JDF desperately try to cling to the only thing he was ever known for is just sad.

Honestly? The film's biggest sin was simply being unfinished. The secret villain is revealed and nothing happens. They honestly thought this was sequel bait but didn't prep for a situation where it didn't get one, which it clearly can't now.Its second biggest film was mid battle choreography and battle cinematography. All the rest of the campy acting would be fine if the action was a step up.The film isn't "good", but it'd be better if it mostly wasn't unfinished. As someone who grew up with JDF, but always thought his legacy was a mixed bag, I'm just sad this is how his story ends. He was still a part of my childhood, one way or another, and not even a bad part of it.

So why did it take so fucking long for them to get a distribution deal? The movie was done not long after JDF killed himself but it floated around for years trying to find someone to take it.

The biggest shock of the whole film was just how little actually happens in it. 95 minutes long and nothing happens for at least 80 of those minutes.

There's something darkly amusing about this basically being a slightly higher budget version of MMPR: The Last Ranger Parody VII, down to the cliffhanger ending setting up a sequel that will never happen.

Oh, another dragon movie? He was in this one, too. Sometimes called The Dragon Warrior, the elf and the hydra do not actually exist in the movie. Biggest notes are him getting a fish sword and dying from a dart to the neck; he attempts to punch giants badly; the first character that talks to him greets him with "Hello, Ranger!" and gets attacked; and a wizard who is of course named Merlin smarmily gets the hell out of the movie with a pointless side quest and a black hole spell.

Killed himself like a nonce despite his attempts to act like a tough guy. I was buying into it too until he hung himself in a motel bathroom. Way to pull back the (shower) curtain.

Watching the trailer only, it looks more expensive for something that only costs 500k.
