>Shane, Tori and Dustin would get their asses kicked in the very first episode. They may have powers but they’re not good fighters, they end up retreating. From the headquarters, Sensei stares at the monitor in silence while Cam shakes his head in disappointment. He knew it was a bad idea making them Rangers. This emphasizes the three being the worst in their Ninja Academy.
>Give the characters an arc. At first Shane and Dustin treat their Ninja Training like high school algebra homework, preferring to go skating and BMX riding. Tori is the only one who takes it seriously. Dustin is a gifted at being a Ninja, he’s just lazy.
>Tori ends up the leader of the team, she knows how to bring everyone together and think her plans through. Shane on the other hand, thinks hes automatically leader because he’s wearing red. Yet in Battle, all of his plans boil down to “hit them harder”, doing flashy moves, and having enough passion. this fails spectacularly.
>The Ninja Academy is mystical, isolated sanctuary in the mountains filled with cherry blossoms
>Cam, rather than just being the tech guy, is a disciplined stern coach to the trio. He teaches them the history of the clan, tends to the blossom garden, and makes sure they honor his father’s legacy.
>Expand on the history of the Thunder Brothers. Growing up, they were apart of the competing Dark-arts Thunder Academy, located in the Volcanoes. While the Wind Academy teachings were power is responsibility, The Thunder Academy taught their pupils that power is seized through dominance, weakness means absolute elimination. The brothers went through brutal, hellish training there. They were placed in a free-for-all battle where the two left standing were given the Crimson and Navy Morphers.
>Lothor and his goons actually do Kabuki theatre as a bizarre form of entertainment. Something more foreign to the audience. Anytime a monster is summoned, it’s more of a dark magic ritual.
