To be fair, Gundam peaked a bit too early don't you think? But thanks to that it became the behemoth franchise that we know and love.

Zeta sucked.ZZ was better, especially the first half where it shat all over Zeta with its shenanigans. The second half is also good because it doesn't suck like Zeta.I will brook no counterarguments on this.

Gundam didn't peak. It was never good. The only reason it got popular was because of model kit sales. Take that away and you got a stupid pretentious anime trying to be more than just a stupid toy commercial for kids. It's the same phenomenon as transformers right down to women somehow becoming the biggest demographic for both franchises.
