What was the point of sending White Base to earth? They were already making GMs and more gundams anyway. Why not just have White Base go straight to side three and nuke zeon from existence? Why did they need to go all the way around the world to Jaburo? This story makes no sense.

Had the Federation actually just loaded the ship up with nuclear warheads from Luna II's stockpile it might have been able to put a dent in either base, but it would also open up people like M'quve and Gihren to openly use WMD's with the Antarctic Treaty being broken.>Why did they need to go all the way around the world to Jaburo?They suffered a deviation from their intended drop to South America and ended up in deeply Zeon controlled territory in North America. From there they continued to get pushed further north by Garma's pursuit forces and were just given orders to deploy for Europe to assist in the planned Operation Odessa since pushing back through North America wasn't viable. By the time Odessa had concluded and they finally made it Jaburo, Matilda's reports on the White Base already gave the Federation most of the practical data they needed for the GM-series, rendering their eventual arrival to Jaburo as being far less necessary. (Technically it was detrimental since the White Base accidentally lead Char to Jaburo)

What uhhhh. What do you assume White Base would do over on Side 3?
