1 was good 2 was a snoozefest for 3 I expect them to use the original designs of the Xi and Penelope, have them a propeer actual final battle before springing the trap thing they of course willl chicken out and execute someone else instead of Hathaway

The trap was teased at the ending of the movie so it’s coming, so far it’s been largely the same as the novels with the notable exception of the climax of the second movie that brought closure to Hathaway’s relationship with amuro and Chan. As for if they’ll actually execute Hathaway at the end it’s 50/50 for me, either they’ll do it or something unexpected will occur that saves him, though that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll outright survive and might die differently later on

What’s the OST track that plays when Hathaway is hallucinating and having his ptsd schizo argument with Amuro’s ghost? The one that starts when Hathaway recites what Char said in CCA along the lines of “Unlike you I’m not just a pilot- AMURO RAYYYY” and leans heavily into the violin/cello when it pans to the CCA flashback through Hathaway’s perspective as he boards a damaged Jegan? Easily the best moment and track of the movie.

I feel I don't understand the decisions in this show at all Why not just fucking kill Lane, he's literally the only enemy pilot who can handle a Gundam. Kill him and they lose like 40% of their combat power. It's like Hathaway doesn't actually WANT to succeed.

Just finished the movie. it was very disappointing to be honest.>too slow >Alyzeus barely had a chance to shine, got wrekt too quickly and most of its screentime was in bird mode >Hathaway's ex-girlfriend barely had any character or backstory for us to know but they tried to make it a big deal then they forgot about her completely >90% of the movie is just Gigi doing dumb stuff >last fight is way too short for a 1:45 movie >movie ended with just a kiss and the entire ending felt so rushedthis was a mess. I hope they don't ruin movie 3 like this

Finally watched this last night. Meant to first rewwatch the initial film, but the timing didn't work. Overall, I struggled. The movie is distractingly ugly, especially all its cheap 3D elements and how they clash with the 2D, which then often has that weird low-frame look (the constant digital camera movement also doesn't help). I still don't really follow the purpose of this trilogy (admittedly, probably should have rewatched the first film), but everything about this second installment feels perfunctory--it's not really a movie, just shit we need to make to justify the eventual finale. I did enjoy the first film, but this second outings feels like some lost OVA from the earlier 2000s.

So is the Xi just flat out superior to the Penelope performance-wise? Both are equipped with Minovsky Flight Units and are capable of atmospheric flight, but the Penelope has less impressively mobility compared to Xi's creative mode movement which is practically 00 S1 gundam-level and it has to engage MA mode to hit higher speeds. Penelope edges out Xi in armaments with its beam cannons but otherwise their loadouts are fairly similar (beam rifle, sabers, funnel missiles etc).
