The RX-79[G] Gundam is great. It looks like military hardware, but still keeps the Gundam aesthetic. I have a soft spot for 08th MS Team, I bought the DVDs and probably watched it 100x as a kid. The first couple episodes are great but midway with the director change, i don’t like it as much. I liked the focus on objectives and squad tactics with Gundams.

Many people didn’t and don’t care for the newtype magic bullshit. It’s vague none sense, and many cared for the more warlike aspect of 08th. It was like band of brothers and Gundam in one which is why many Americans love it

08th is far worse than, for example, 0083, people just remember it more fondly because Aina isn't a stupid bitch like Nina If Aina suddenly backstabbed Shiro to side with Ginias at the end nobody would like this show, they'd say it was trash aside from one cool fight It's thematically shallow and tons of the characters basically don't matter at all. Why is Yuri here? Why did Norris not do anything until his big fight? Michel is good in literally one episode, the one with him and Eledore in a Zeon jail, and he's meant to be one of the main characters.

I like it because of the romance between Shiro and Aina. Is it wrong to be more invested in the characters in Gundam rather than the mechs? Like, cool robots are cool, sure, but having a pilot I like makes them way better. I know I wouldn't give two fucks about the Dijeh if Amuro didn't pilot it.

This new RG is just exceptionally ugly, terrible proportions, tiny arms, shoulders and head bolted onto a massive brick body, it looks ridiculous and the designers should be fired. The ground gundam itself is perfectly okay and the HG is much better proportioned.
