And yet it only seems to be remembered by mecha fans, how curious.Every freaking time I see this show brought up nowadays it's by mecha fans.

This show was a really great example of why something being trendy does NOT mean it's safe to assume it's worth your time.

Aside from Zero Two, the only other thing I remember is the fat kid getting cucked.

I did. I thought the designs were neat, especially the one with the legally distinct gunlance. So I was pretty bummed when the show dropped the pretense of mecha action and fully pivoted into teen drama.

I thought the mechs would have their own personality and the 2 kids are needed to start them up like turning the key in a car. Was really let down after learning that in episode 1 and was only downhill ever since. Genista was hot at least.

Well I picked it up back in the day because I thought it was about robot action. Turns out it was mostly about the kids interaction. As per usual Trigger sucks and for what it seems it looked and felt like there remake of Diebuster. The ending was laughingly bad.

..I did. The mechs were what I felt was a nice middle ground of mecha musume.
