Bad pacing.Characters that didn't feel like I had a reason to care about their lives.The pokemon character design. Gihren, Kycilia, etc look fine, I just can't uncouple the designers style from Pokemon.It's really fucking obnoxious with the new type magic in the illegal MS duels at the start.
Throughout the show in general. I can suspend my disbelief for CCA with the gradual buildup of new type fuckery over the course of 79, zeta, ZZ and then CCA. But it feels ham fisted here. I don't know why.

The early episodes were marred by a completely useless "clanbatz xd" plotline that no one cared for, and then when the plot gets interesting and the Titans show up, they're completely ignored. They should have written the show ONLY to be about what UC would be like if the OYW ended in stalemate/zeon advantage. Everyone was excited about the setting and the show delivered on none of it

They wanted to do too much stuff for a 12 episode run. So in the end they shift the narrative so it's focused too much on the alternative UC stuff because they have no fucking time left. Also keeping the Beginning segments out of the TV run and having it be a prequel movie only would have at least bought them an extra episode or two. The biggest flaws with GQuuuuuuX all essentially boil down to it being too ambitious for the timeframe they had to make it all work. Literally just make it a two cour and it'd go up significantly in quality through that breathing room

we can get the plot moving and exploring a victorious or white peace zeon society and set up the conflict of the series by episode 2 or 3 if we include the char flashback which I wouldn't because the multiverse shit was retarded

This shows is such a mess.I love it to bits, there are many cool ideas, but it's still a mess.I like how we get a more character driven show where personal motivations of the main cast can swing things just as much as that of the political movers & shakers......but it's still a mess.If you're doing character drama, you need a tad more time spent on characters and your final arc cannot be resolved with Newtype magic bullshit alone unless it ties into meaningful character development.This ending didn't, Machu just "powered through" with youthful exuberance and learned absolutely no lessons.I know not everything needs to be said out loud, like I loved the irony of Kycilia giving Nya an gun and telling her to just shoot her problems... then getting shot in turn.But if you're gonna Eva your Gundam, then your main cast needs to go somewhere. Shinji (finally!) fucking grows up by the end of Rebuild and triumphs over his dad by pointing out the latter's teenage bullshit. (Only took ~25 years IRL, but I'll take it).Where did our main cast go? OK, Shuuji learns that obsession is not love, but you cannot make your Cloudcuckoolander the vessel of your character drama in the very last act!I love this show, but it's such a mess.
