Don't get bogged down on the long speeches as if they're just dialogue like you'd see in a movie. Try to feel what they evoke and focus on the rhythm of the text. And yes it's still Nestor speaking. You are going to have to get out of this modern mindset of "why is he speaking in third person" if you want to make it through the next 23 books.

My favorite part is in book 22 when achilles teleports right behind hector and hector says "what IS this, the ILIAD or something?" before getting stabbed
