So I read a bit of a deep cut.Anyone here familiar with EverymanHYBRID ? It was a YouTube ARG from the early 2010’s. It was somewhat popular on /x/ back then.One of the creators of it, Jeffrey Koval, also self-publishes books on Amazon. I read his debut novel Code Junkie. It was decent. It’s about a guy who loses his programming job and his life just spins out of control. He also begins having weird dreams and losing time/memory.SPOILERS: It turns out the entire town he lives in is run by a cult his grandfather (One he didn’t know he had) that worships some Lovecraftian-type god. The town has been secretly controlling his life so he could be ready for the moment where has to perform a sacrifice to appease the god the cult worships.

Currently reading Empire of the Vampire (Fantasy Horror.) It's decent fun.Negative Space was my last read. Ending was really sad. Would like to discuss the book.

I read Negative Space around 6 years ago and remember it being a pretty fun and easy read before the pace of the book speeds up by 300% and shits on itself in the last 50 pages or so

Just finished pic related. It's pretty graphic but it was a great read. Some people complained that one of the characters makes some dumb decisions, but that was the only gripe I've seen anyone have and while if I was in his shoes I'd have prioritizing getting the hell out of there over everything else, it didn't really stick out to me as an issue.Late 19th century women's convent in northern Italy mountains, in the winter, goes to hell. Atmosphere and setting are very well done, events that unfold are pretty crass, overall very bleak.

I really love your standard cosmic horror stuff from Lovecraft and CAS, I love House on the Borderland, I love a lot of the ideas of Machen's (though not a huge fan of his writing except in The White People), I enjoy M.R. James though he can be a bit dull (really love stories like View From a Hill and the atmosphere in Whistle and I'll Come To You), I love Ligotti (especially Teattro Grottesco), I really like Aickman, and I've enjoyed what little I've read from Clive Barker as well as enjoying his films. I enjoy schlock but I've only really consumed it in movie form. Who should I read next?

I think he created a far more otherworldly and frightening character than Bram Stoker was able to, but that's just my opinion. Now reading Carmilla. Surprised it doesn't get more recognition in modern times due to its content. I guess gay vampires has been a thing since the advent of the genre rather than a recent reinterpretation.>What do you want to read? Probably going on to Walter de la Mare after le Fanu, though I did just pick up a fairly scarce (I'm told) 1977 copy of the Collected Ghost Stories of Mrs. J.H.
