A
Anon01/18/26, 17:18No.25028044
I only have 10 favorites. The rest is trash.

I've never read a book, what should I read ?
A
Anon01/18/26, 17:28No.25028073
I only did one book per author which makes it actually quite a small list
A
Anon01/18/26, 17:48No.25028134
i could do it using only literature, only genre or only popular fiction but i cba

(OP)
Stuck to one book per author, probably would have gotten a little silly otherwise.Germinal is great, almost made my list. The big scene when the mine floods is probably the best action scene I have ever read. Probably should have some Lawrence on mine but I am not sure I can call him a favorite.

Didn’t include any authors more than once or I’d have a couple more Tolstoy and Cather novels

Here's my top 100 from a year and a half ago or so. Still roughly accurate though some would drop off and the order would change (especially once you get past 30 or so) if I were to redo it.

This was rough. Top 15 was easy enough, but filling in the rest of the chart took a while.
Also, the book finder on the website is shit. Awful covers, and it didn't even have Blood Meridian for some reason.

Ten seems a more reasonable number. These are (some of) the ones I have read multiple times and/or will reread once enough time passes. I suppose that counts as "favorites".

In no particular order. Mix of what I always return to and what has influenced my thinking the most, along with some novels.

This is my top 100 fiction books. Creating a chart with images would take me a long time, so I'm just posting this list that I already have from 2025.

Every chart in this thread is 100x more interesting than any dumbass /lit/ essentials chart. What the fuck? Why dont we do these more often?

What is some comfy and jolly literature. Everything here seems depressing. I spent my early 20s reading Thomas Bernhard and Samuel Beckett. Had enough of that edgy shit.

I've read a lot of books but haven't particularly enjoyed any enough to call them a favorite or feel any desire to return to them.

That was a fun exercise. Beyond the top ten-fifteen it was really difficult to narrow it down. Thanks for all the recs folks.
