I try to read Dune but it's so boring. Now, I'll start reading Lord of Light instead. Do you think I made the right decision?

The first Dune was good, but I got bored super quickly with the sequels. I think I got to the third one and just gave up

It's an 800-page long lead-up to the much shorter, and vastly superior Dune Messiah.
