Most of the good ones lived before he set down his particular style, which was idiosyncratic and hard to invent.

See William Cowper. Although most good poets would prefer to be more original than imitate the specific style of another poet, especially one as sui generis as Milton.

Shelley and Keats wrote some of their work in a Miltonic style, like Prometheus Unbound and Hyperion, respectively. Keats was so influenced by Milton that he became self-conscious about being unable to escape the influence.

What even is Milton's style? I read and find only 17th century, high falutin gobbledygook. Is it even meaningful to call it a style? All these pompous faggots from that century wrote the same way.
