It’s a tiny island nation with a low population and demographic homogeneity. They don’t have very loose gun laws because they mostly don’t need them beyond hunting. 20 years old age req. Have to pass a background check and provide character references. Medical/Mental Health exam. Class and a test. Your initial license will get you a small rifle or double barrel shotgun. You have to wait a year for a semiautomatic shotgun or bigger caliber rifle. No handguns. No semiautomatic rifles. The cops don’t even carry over there.

Icelandic guy here, from what I know we have a surprisingly vibrant gun culture out in the countryside.
I know for a fact that there are tons of WWI and II guns hiding out in a lot of farmer's gun cabinets, including a surprising amount of handguns, mostly because people would buy surplus after the wars for use in hunting and as sheep guns and customs didn't really care to check the caliber at the time.
There's also a lot of submachineguns that come up whenever the police get involved with gangs and the more objectionable criminal elements here, I've seen a lot of interesting things like mp28, mp34, various berettas, mp40's, even a grease gun or two in the photos the police publish when they seize illegal weapons. The most insane thing though was a MG42 with waffenamt on it, that feels a little overkill for shooting reindeer with. There was also a very public controversy involving the father of the chief of police, where he was offering conversions for various semi auto guns to full auto, especially smuggled in AR-15 and AK type rifles. His daughter tried to cover it up through leveraging her office but ultimately failed when some of the officers who raided her father's house leaked it to the press.

They're almost UK-tier. No semis of any kind. Just bolt action 22's, milsurp, and shotguns. There are a very large number of gun owners in rural areas, however. They're fabulously cucked, but many of them do own firearms. There's 0 domestic firearms manufacturing, 0 dangerous wildlife, minimal crime, and so no reason for their government to let them be armed. There is also no reason for a any USA style >muh freedoms culture to exist. They've been somebody's bitch for hundreds of years and thr viking days are long gone. In any case they disarmed relatively quickly precisely because their small, isolated population couldn't tolerate extended viking-style feuding.
