Easy company were a pack of shitbags malding about being expected to practice basic discipline, there is no unbiassed account of what Sobel was like but considering the gravest indictment of him is that his NCOs got more respect than he did (which is literally the point of NCOs, as COs cannot reasonably be expected to befriend every fucking enlisted wop) then he was probably fine.

He was not as bad as he was portrayed in the band of brothers. He was made intentionally into a villain because it played well. I don't remember the exact inaccuracies but you can search yt, someone made some videos on this topic. And another account i heard from eugene sledge or his party is that the adaptation of the with old breed in peileilu has about 20% accurate based on what tom hanks said, and that 20% hisyorical accuracy is higher than then 10% hollywood usually delivers. So unfortunately as band of brothers or the pacific is, they are probably filled with wrong portreyals of historic events and people.FYI i have ugene's book but i have yet to read it, so maybe someone else here can testify to the accuracy in The Pacific.

Ok, doing some cursory research revealed that band of brother has several big lies about the characters there. It sucks one of most fav pieces of cinema i just made up shit about real people, either making them saints or villains. At least the pacific is fairly accurate trustworthy. It sucks I modeled my persona during my service on lies.It would have been good if they mentioned that. But the documentary style interviews they throw in supposedly sell it as a fairly accurate documentary.

Anons too fucking autistic to understand that Sobel's strengths and weaknesses was the "perfect storm" that allowed Easy Company to be incredibly fit, and function well in the field because field exercises were a SNAFU situation by default under Sobel. Sobel being fucked up is what prepared Easy Company to be so good.
