Indoor vs outdoor matches, what does /hg/ think? I've only done outdoor and it seems like indoor would be way less fun, what with all the targets being ahead of you. But winter is coming and I'd like to still do something when there's a foot of snow out. (Although they run practical rifle matches outside in January so I might go freeze my balls off for it)

So I thought all was groovy with my trigger+sear+disconnector+mainspring housing swap job but while dry firing it and comparing it to my Dan Wesson I noticed some things. Most worryingly, the grip safety now apparently doesn't do anything. 1911men, please help. What do I need to adjust/change?>Grip safety does NOT need to be depressed for a trigger pull to drop thr hammer. >Thumb safety requires a decent amount of force to move all the way up. Clicks up part way then needs to be "forced" the rest of the way. Appears to be "engaged" at the partial position but not confidence inspiring. >Thumb safety can be engaged with the hammer in the half cock position. I don't remember if it was this way before, but it's not like this on my DW.I haven't been to the range to test fire it yet but dry firing seems to work correctly. It cocks and resets and fires normally and will shoot a pencil to the ceiling.

I'm looking to get into .44 magnum for target shooting and eventually hunting. Thoughts on the S&W 629? I'd buy it new knowing full well the odds of needing warranty work due to bad QC. I just like the design and aftermarket support. I'm leaning towards the 6.5" barrel for practicality but the 5" barrel is most pleasing aesthetically. Full underlug either way.>inb4 get a Ruger I think Rugers are ugly, though I'm sure they're great revolvers. >inb4 get a Colt I have a Python already, hate the serrated trigger and the limited grip options, and the Anaconda fixes neither issue.

I was swapping the internals over to an optics cut slide and launched the little spring in the back underneath that rear plate. After that I found out the new slide is out of spec so I couldn't even finish it if I had all the parts. I should have just sent my slide off to get milled.
