Would he have loved or hated drones? On one hand he was definitely a technology autist who went obsessively over Jane's and any tech manuals he could find memorizing the stats.
On the other hand, he also loved creating characters and showing humans using their skills and abilities and loved to create little vignettes about characters you never heard from again.
So what's the verdict, /k/ was /ourauthor/ a drone guy or not?

Half of Clancy's works are basically about what if a rogue state could undermine the global order with like, a single barrel of nerve agent or a really good F-15. The fact that he did not write a story about the Western world being saved from lawn mower engine powered flying hand grenades by guys named Ding Chad and John Jones seems like an oversight on God's part. He'd love this shit.

He liked speculating about near future tech so I imagine he would love drones because of the huge near future potential.
Ukraine has been moving so fast with drone tech we have seen ideas go from speculation of combat tested in under a year and there is stiill plenty of room for their role to expand.Also a spook story about sneaking a swarm into a country to pull a Spiderweb would be cool.

I read his book, 'Netforce', when I was a kid. It basically predicted drone warfare in exactly the way it's happening right now. You may not know this, because he predicted a bunch of sci-fi hackerz bullshit in that book, but he absolutely called using RC craft to destroy critical infrastructure and act like hybrid guided bomb and CAS. FPV, too. Though, his version was done over the internet instead of satellites or proximity.He also predicted satellites that would cook people's brains and cause mobs to randomly erupt into violence, and a version of VR like the Metaverse except it could be used to craft depictions of the battlefield for robot soldiers to fight on. I still think it's like looking through an image of the internet as understood by a boomer who can barely operate a computer, but a few things from it came true.
