I've been on ranges where we had a few thousand extra rounds of ammo and sometimes when you're them off like that all day the carbon build up and the heat of the chamber will stop that first round from going all the way into battery, and it needs a little nudge. Nothing anyone in any situation would ever find themselves in though

It's odd so many people cry about it. I had to use it multiple times in the military and a couple as a civilian. All colts and high end AR platforms. It's almost like those that laugh at the forward assist are those that have safe queens and low round counts.

I don't understand the hate. Mine never saved me in combat, but when I was being a lazy retard at Benning and didn't clean my rifle before we qualified, I managed to score expert (36) with several malfunctions, the last one resistant to sports so I just bruised my hand on the FA and she went into battery.

It's a necessary part because of the shitty charging handlesystem. Only notrainings think they're useless. You're not even allowed to use one without a forward assist in any professional field. Can someone please post the US military trials in Panama (I think?) were the examiners reported that they liked the AR and most of the minor problems it had can be fixed by the forward assist (e.g. "bolt sometimes knocked out of battery by brush, can be fixed with bolt closer device", etc.) I used to have the screencap but can't find it anymore.
