Second one in panel two but make the sides extend over the back of the neck. If it was flexible it could snap or velcro to the collar of your vest so there would be no gaps.

Possibly apocryphal but I also remember reading old scans of helmet development documents from the inter war era, but the problem with the kettle hat is directing shrapnel directly into your brain for the same reason it's so good protecting your face, shoulders and neck in melee combat.What we really need is a high speed tactical bascinet

Obsolete helmet design that assumes projectiles will only be raining down on you and not come up from below. Also assumes that the forebrain is the most important part of your brain, rather than the cerebellum. A hit to the forebrain is survivable, a hit to the cerebellum results in paralysis. And right next door is the pons, which controls stuff like heartbeat.
We have boring designs because they work, not because old designs were unfairly discontinued.

I know this is a meme image, but 'Brits' covers four nations, even more if you consider Channel Island and Isle of Man to be separate cultures. Even more if you include Ireland (since Ireland is part of the British Isles)... But there was always more helmet designs than that and in use. It is all about cost.

Not really unless you're a fan of investing excessive sums of money into limited utility specialized equipment. Don't get me wrong, it would be cool to see a composite Brodie or M56 but good luck convincing any manufacturer to produce them or military/paramilitary customer to buy them.
Roughly dome-shaped helmets with all-round coverage are better suited for a wider range of threat profiles than the Brodie (and theoretically have greater structural strength against ballistic threats from any angle). For example, in the current meta frag/ballistic threat sources often come from below and the side rather than primarily from the top. Remember, the Brodie and Turtle helmet families became dead ends while the Stahlhelm and M1 families are the direct ancestors of most modern composite helmets.
Also, a personal gripe I have is that wide-brimmed/skirted helmets is that you can't lie down on the ground or lean your head back against a wall or the cabin/headrest of a vehicle without taking the helmet off. I would never willingly wear my M56 over an M1 for this reason alone regardless of whatever ballistic advantages it might have in theory.
