It's mainly just the proprietary rail and no optics that make it "obsolete", but really it still is the softest 45 in the market.

No, it's a great pistol but it is kind of chunky. Perhaps look into one of the many modern concealed carry pistols to complement it? There have been a lot of tiny 9mm pistols released in the last decade with generous magazine capacity and at least decent shooting characteristics.

I love my USP 45. Kind of wish I would have just thrown more money back and gotten the USP Tactical or a Mark 23 instead though. That being said, I'm not at all opposed to buying more USPs in different forms and flavors.

I also picked up a old complete 9mm slide (back when the barrels were rifled instead of polygonal) to swap on my USP 40 for shits and grins. Eventually I'd like to buy a standalone 9mm USP Compact just to have all 3 frame sizes.

Dots and lights but there's adaptors and people who have figured out the cut for dots.
It's real downside is holster availability. I spent so fucking long looking for a holster for my own USP. Other then the holsters it's a fine pistols if a little dated

For .45 ACP handguns it's still pretty damn good but the FN 545 is able to hold up to 18 rounds which is insane these days but I can tell the magazine pops out while 12 round mags generally don't.
For .40S&W it's still the best and sometimes I wish I had one
For 9mm it is super obsolete and guns that came before and after it are better.
I mean for a 9mm it's fine but we have the Beretta 92, Glock 19/17, VP9 and plenty of others that do 9mm better
