>M16A2 barrel profile is... le good actually
The people shitting on this barrel haven't actually used it at speed. First off, the difference between it and the A1 profile is pretty small to begin with, the overall weight difference when carrying it is not noticeable. That aside, having that slight weight out there on the end is really nice when shooting unsupported. The gun settles on target quite nicely, speeding up transitions on anything past 25 yards. Instead of thinking purely in terms of how the barrel profile helps to delay stringing as it heats up, consider also the dynamics as felt by the shooter. The slightly comped flash hider sucks compared to the neutral A1 or a modern 3/4 prong, the target sight may be of dubious use, and 3rd burst is fuckin gay, but Stoner is wrong about the profile.
