The optics are armoured so instead of cutting to black which is easy to fake it would be cracked bullet proof glass which is a lot harder to fake.

That was almost certainly a 300+ meter shot, the guy took a pot shot at the heli and got astoundingly lucky to hit the optics in the perfect spot.Had to happen at some point. plus they are using steel core ammo so its a little more damaging than your standard lead core.
