If you didn't know the early Soviet state wanted to get rid of Russian culture and remove any of Russian identity. That's why they've also destroyed churches and old buildings, promoting every minority everywhere. As for the Russians, common Russian have low will to rule. They just want to live their own life on their own plot of land. That's why most of the rulers were always Noviops, Jews, Germans and other ethnicities.
