As long as you get some joy out of it.

the best moment to start drawing was yesterday. the next best moment is today

it's more that in the current year it's too late to start digital art unless you don't care about getting an audience

Anon09/29/26, 14:02No.8051769
Technically no, but be prepared to be stuck in /beg/ hell for at least a decade before reaching /int/, as learning just became extremely difficult since your neuroplasicity has decreased and continues to rapidly decrease as you age.
If you're really dedicated you might reach high /int/ before your 50.

If you're talented, no. Some guys can start at any age and get really good fast. A good way to determine if you're talented is to compare some of your very first drawings to a reference. You can (mostly) ignore style and line quality since they will be ugly for a while. If your drawing is pretty accurate, congrats you are talented. If you look at the detail on your drawing and it conveys the 3d form of the object you are very talented. If it looks like a bunch of shapes mashed together you will be a /beg/ for a long time.

No, young people are retarded and believe theirs is the only generation allowed to be successful and even more so now that Genz is recorded to be dumber than the millenials on every front possible. Don't fall for the meme that new is good. Good is good, no matter the age.

It’s only too late if you decide it is. If you have the time and discipline, you can make a ridiculous amount of progress in a year. Consistency is key, and comparison is the thief of joy. Don’t let other people’s negativity convince you otherwise.Assuming you aren’t a brainshitting retard at that age and know how to navigate the internet, there are endless resources available to help you learn from the ground up. The information is there. You just have to put in the work, but more importantly, actually want to put in the work.

Just fucking start learning. You want to.
So do it. Who gives a shit if you do or dont make it. Maybe one day you can make bananons request on tg or vg, or leddit,
Or make a painting/ drawing for a loved one.Or make a couple of jokes with frensOr maybe you will flurish into an unchlorinated, unfluoridised, uncircumsised succesfull artist. You wont know untill you try.Besides.
Got anything better to do?

I'm 25 and have been drawn as an hobbyist for years as of now, but I have a similar doubt: If pic related is my actual skill level, can I safely focus on studying fundamentals and making finished pieces where I apply them as I keep learning, instead of studying other artists (I did this thus far without thinking deep enough sadly), for like 1 or 2 years if I aspire to reach an advanced technical skill level in the future?

you feel like monet?
sounds like you're gonna be a good artist

A
Anon09/30/26, 20:26No.8052605
its too late to start drawing the traditional way by studying and grinding. But its not too late to just draw. Draw what you enjoy and enjoy it for its own sake, only practicing things here and there when you feel like it.

Adults need to stop being so embarrassed about being shit when they start a new hobby. No, 33 isn't too old, nor is 45, 63, or 103.
Try new hobbies, be shit, get good, enjoy yourself, and stop being so self-conscious.

Rejoice, the whole script has been thrown out and now there are no rules, no big AAA to shoot for much longer, even then it wouldn't be what anyone was promised. The future is wild, make something cool. Be something nigga.

Seeing how the majority of adults were stunted thanks to internet and social media that's not really late- if you figured your shit out

Anon10/06/26, 12:03No.8056211
Nah. I remember taking drawing 1 in community college at 19, and there was a 60 year old whoye lady who was a complete beginner who started drawing some really cool stuff as the course continued, her figure studies were spot onYou can do it, just do it. The longer you wait the more you'll regret

at 33 I'm starting to value peace and quiet more than anything. Why draw and potentially spike my cortisol when I can just le in bed and relax withuot answering to anybody?

As a job? Sure. If you don't want the money, then it doesn't matter.
A
Anon10/14/26, 20:49No.8061868
Yes. Drawing as a child or AT MOST a late teen adult was your last chance to develop a modicum of what people call talent before neuroplasticity decline caps your potential. At 33 your cognition is falling off a cliff, and it's worse each year. It's over for you. Find something else.

Im 23 and I think its too late for me
A
Anon10/22/26, 15:53No.8066364
its over, but not because of a lack of talent or skill. So you should still draw anyways because pretty soon even that is going to be illegal.
A
Anon10/23/26, 03:31No.8066700
as a working adult, how do i defeat this cycle im in where i want to draw when im at work and unable to, but when i get home it's the last thing i want to do and cant get myself to do anything

Bro just do it.
At 40 you're gonna ask this again.

You were supposed to be drawing throughout your entire childhood. that's at least 5 years of mileage to get used to copying and drawing and producing finished works. But if you're starting that now, you need to go back to feeling like a kid. Stop being ashamed of your art. Normies nowadays will never understand what its like to actually be creative and forge themselves through success and failure. So you can't look to them for advice. They'd blow their brains out if they had to draw and look at their finished works for their only source of dopamine.By wanting to draw, you were already born with the correct gene. The "I want to make it" gene.
