A good deal of improvement, but likely a result of model usage, better references/influences, ambition for polish, and familiarity with the software.
The most telling aspect, as it often is, are the hands. They have a traced feeling, but ironically have poorer sense of flow. The left hand especially seems to flail and has ambiguous intent. These are common traits of traced 3D model hands - even volume in the individual digits, but poor spacing between them.
The hair bun is distracting. I'm not a stickler for rendering, but in this case it's the disparity in quality that is jarring.
I'm not one to say silly things like "the left has SOuL!", but I think what people are noticing is that the left has a congruent style, every aspect is done with a consistent level of skill, and it possesses a certain kind of naive daring. That foreshortened hand says "I don't know what I'm doing, but that's what I want!" We can all appreciate that can-do spirit.
The right says "this is what people like. This is what I'm supposed to do." It's formal. It's formulaic.
