I recall watching a video that explains how the Cap image was made, and its anatomy actually isn't terrible, but the inclusion of the shield makes everything look wonky and terrible.
I also recall that Liefeld was warned that it was a shitty image, and Liefeld wasn't fussed because it isn't anything important, just a quick marketing piece to let people know he'll be working on the cap series, and he didn't think many would see it anyway... and now it's probably his most well known drawing, lol.I guess the moral of the story is to always be paranoid that your very worst public drawing will be the one that follows you everywhere, haha.

There's plenty of examples of bad anatomy in the capeshit industry, specially in the 90s when most pro artists learned to draw comics by tracing them.
Roger Cruz even admited to it, he said that tracing Jim Lee x-men comics is how he learned the craft...

Why is there a disconnect between the commercial artwork posted in this thread and what this board calls /pro/? The commercial artists and mangakas posted here were paid to make those drawings with the ridiculous anatomy or angles (whether or not they intended to). By the straightest definition of the word their artwork is inherently professional (i.e. characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession or participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavor often engaged in by amateurs). It is commercialized. /pro/ needs to be called something else.
