Carbon dating has a ±1σ accuracy of about ±100 years at 500BP, so the exact date must depend on other considerations. Apparently the source is this book, I would also be interested to to see their reasoning why the codex material dates to 1424. https://historicas.unam.mx/publicaciones/catalogo/ficha?id=868
