History is often referred as a "boring" subject.
Many will even go onto rants on how it is "useless".
I've enjoyed learning history & never had issues with learning it. Those that don't like learning history fail to recognize the importance of it in my opinion.
How can we make history more engaging to learn?
How can we prevent sour grapes?

Because in schools nobody is taught history at all. The are taught propaganda. In 99% of schools in all nations in the planet it's propaganda. I say this as a "neutral nation" latino. Even our history classes were trash "the usa is the greatest nation in the world, our saving angels fighting against evil satanic communism" and then you wonder why 99% of people grow up hating/not caring about history. The usa has 100% ruined how history is taught in the entire west, and China also has very blatant propaganda. The only place where history might actually be taught impartially and with little propaganda is... Nowhere, because as a teacher (I am a teacher) we are forced to prove we aren't communists and our politics align with the current government to even have a shot at being hired as teachers (I am a communist anyway, but you are forced to lie to enter). Like how in the usa you are forced to love God and be christian to be a teacher or they can fire you for pushing "satanic science and gender and communism" once a single parent complains

As someone who definitely thought history was a boring subject in school, I'd say that it mostly came down to me not be interested in what we were learning the history *of*. I wasn't interested in politics, so learning political history was boring. I wasn't interested in war, so learning about all the historical wars was boring. But I am interested in things like science, math, philosophy, and religion, so I sometimes go out of my way to the learn the history around those topics just for fun, though iirc they were given very little attention in my school history classes.Another thing is that my school history classes never involved discussion of competing theories about what happened on a certain occasion or why a certain thing happened, and controversy always makes a subject more interesting than rote memorization of a sequence of agreed-upon claims.
