The entire point was to fulfill the ancient prophecies written centuries before. The messiah had to be from the line of david. The torah's genealogies and covenants are patrilineal. A woman couldn't fulfill the specific, masculine-terms used in the texts.

When a question isn't dealt with in scripture, it's good to say that we are just guessing.As it's written in job:
7 After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.My guess is that He wanted to do in reverse what happened in the fall were a perfect man died selflessly, being brought into the world by theotokos. Because it's always the same soul that keeps coming back, and I'm pretty sure that he would prefer to come back as male. Maybe it helps him do his job better or the brains molds to it better. Who knows how that stuff works anyway.

Jesus is God and God is a being above and beyond the concept of gender so Jesus was nonbinary
