He followed and trusted the plan to wear down the enemy through good and bad times and in the end it payed off. He also was very religious andwent to the mass everyday and strictly forbade prostutites, magazines and other distractions to his troops than the Holy bible.

Make a phony war out of the italian front, no offensive actions, just mass troops on the front and force austria to respond in kind, no bloodshed, still a useful distraction, hell, you could probably do a naval invasion into zara with the troops you now have freeIf you intend to fight then there probably isn't much to do, the alpine front is just retarded like that and in the east it's only the isonzo
