Portugal, Ireland and Russia also didn't engage in witch hunting, or had very few cases. IIRC, Portugal had 7 trials, while Spain had over a thousand (and a single execution), most of them near the French border, when the Basques went crazy about witchcraft until the Inquisition arrived and restored order.
Sweden, Norway and Iceland had a few cases, but not a lot, followed by Hungary, Italy and Denmark.
Witch hunting was mostly happening on the HRE, France, England and Poland.

The large majority of witch hunts took place in protestant countries during the modern period, and were enforced by secular courts.They usually used the Malleus Maleficarum, a book that had been condemned and banned by the Inquisition office for obvious reasons, but was still used by secular courts so the idiots could appear as if they knew what they were doing and further con their subjects (most of whom really didn't know better even if that isn't a good excuse) into believing their new state churches were somehow legitimate.

Absolute brainlet take. Spain's Inquisition was notoriously brutal, they just focused more on heresy than witchcraft. The real death count was in the Holy Roman Empire. You are also ignoring the Mfecane, the Matabele genocide, and countless other non-European atrocities.

There are still witch hunts in modern day africa and papau new guinea. Belief in and discrimination of alleged witches is a universal and widespread human belief. Also the majority of accusations of witchcraft made in the height of the witch hunt craze were made by women against other women, most commonly old bitter women accusing a young popular woman of being a witch, or young popular womrn accusing an old hermit woman on the edge of town of being a witch. At the end of the day the witch hunts were spurred on by pettiness, rumors and rivalries all perpetuated by women themselves
