/n/ here, but I went to art school and did gd for a year. lifetime cyclist.
I really like that shade of purple, but I don't think black would look good with it at all.
if you wanted to do a two tone, I'd probably go white. there's an anon who has that and it's nice.
according to color theory, your complimentary color is either an orange or yellow, but that always looks garrish imo. your analogous hues are blues and reds but other than pink I don't think they work, either. what would look neat with your color would be a deep dark purple or an indigo blue imo. I also like purple and green but I'm not seeing a good match with this shade of purple.doing a decent fade with spray cans isn't hard. this anon did his /n/> but you can't see it well in the picture. but I'm sure he'll post it if you ask. you do the fade on a diagonal roughly parallel to the downtube.
I can't remember which way it goes but the fade looks better if you do dark over light or light over dark. you could look it up or try both ways on a flattened cardboard box or whatever.
