Anons, please help me with my monitor woesI want to use multiple displays with my laptop, where I have one cable going from my laptop to a hub, and then one cable from the hub to my main 1440p monitor via Displayport, and one from the hub to my second monitor via HDMI (it's old and has no DP etc input)After a lot of searching, I found a hub that has a removable input cable (most have un-removable 2-3 inch long USB-C input cables, which is too short for my needs) and does 120hz at 4k (which I wanted for future-proofing), but when I try to use it, while the main monitor detects an input and turns on, it says no signal detected, while on the laptop screen, it has different windows constantly freezing and unfreezing, as if a external display was being plugged in and unplugged over and over. Could it maybe be my RAM sticks getting hotter and hotter as the days go by and it heating up my mobo and CPU by proxy, maybe? My RAM doesn't have a dedicated temp readout tho, so I can't verify that, but my mobo temps are consistently like 1 degree below the CPU tempsIs there a tool I can use to like, show how much total CPU % processes of the same name (so all the separate web browser processes get grouped together) use over time in a graph, to see if anything gradually rises over a week period the next time I restart my laptop?Or is there a tool I can use to force a given set of processes to stay under a certain total CPU usage %? as I said in that last post I did install process lasso, but it's CPU limiter only allows you to set a % per process, and even after I set one at like .2% per firefox.exe, and it started to limit them to 2 cores each, it didn't seem like it was making a difference and a few hours later it was spitting out errors about being unable to set those cpu affinity limits anymore

Then I saw the 5800X3D is only $130 more, and that's supposed to be like the best AM4 option possible, so I went ahead and switched orders. Everybody says it's pretty retarded to intentionally start on AM4 and handicap yourself, though, so I bit the bullet and ordered a 7 9800X3D.Now I'm kind of worried that I'm using more money than necessary, and if I pair it with a 9070 XT or something, shit's all gonna go out of whack when I try to play Unreal Tournament 2004 or the original Star Wars Battlefront or w/e. I wasn't going to pair it with a big jumbotron, I was planning on a 27" 2560 monitor.I know you can intentionally limit frame rates to make old games behave, but is it a lot of effort to fiddle with? Does it hurt the CPU/GPU to make it underperform most of the time? Should I just cancel the 9800X3D and go back to the first choice?

So I know fuck all about what laptops are considered good, but need one for my 60 year old mother. Her current one is an old piece of junk with an i3 and 4gb of ram, slows to a crawl and fan kicks into overdrive just having chrome open. She's not computer savvy but not a caveman either. She has only used Windows. Something reliable that will be used daily, general use, heaviest lifting it will have to do is browser gaming and potentially bluestacks so a dedicated GPU isn't needed. Something simple since she is more used to PCs from the 90s/00s where it would just work out of the box without being bombarded by AI and other notifications (but I can always go in and disable that stuff). Plus if it has good cooling (I doubt she'll clean it) and a touch screen. Can I please have some recommendations? Even if it only checks a couple boxes.

It used to be that in this tab management section, the windows could be expanded and they'd show the most recently accessed tabs in each window with the option to expand and show all the tabs. Now there isn't a show more option so if you expand the section it just shows every tab open in that window.

Running Windows via Boot Camp on this old iMac 14,1 (Late 2013, Core i5). Ambient temp is pretty cool here (around 65°C as you can see in the screenshot), but the CPU PECI easily spikes under load. so my GPU (GTX 980) is basically 10 years old at this point. I've never really taken it out of the case & cleaned it. I tried to play nier automata recently but it struggles to stay above ~45 FPS. Its odd though because it start off stable 60FPS but then it look like the GPU temp rises to 95C and then it throttles gigga. in light of all this certificate authority & web PKI drama i was wondering, why exactly dont we just make a change to the IP protocol so that your computers connection to the ISP is encrypted as well? this would prevent an attacker with a fake TLS cert from doing anything anyway. Unless he intercepts ISP-to-ISP connections, or he sits directly inside the ISP then he cant use his TLS cert for anything, right?
