What is the current stance on AI code in FOSS? Are people actually tolerating this now just so normalfags feel like developers, or are maintainers actively banning it?

Do what you want to do in your project.But as soon as you allow LLM slop, it's pretty much dead.
It may or may not be better than having an unmaintained project, THOUGH. So it depends case by case.

It's already being scorned at by free distros, as well as small projects.
And let's never assume these LLM systems are intelligent.

It's one of the biggest reasons why you see projects ban AI usage. It's impossible to maintain a standard where a human reviews everything while allowing AI through. Even if you don't hate AI in principle and may be cutting off some good work in the process ia blanket ban is the sanest way when you have to sort through a firehose of poopoo peepee resume padding slop every day. The maximum throughput is constrained by humans not just the time they spend but also their actual enthusiasm to work on the thing.
