is it worth buying a domain?
or is it just a paypig humiliation ritual?
also why is it called buying when clearly you rent it?

Monetarily, I could buy all 3 of these and it would be the equivalent of you buying a coffee on the way to work. How does that make you feel?

They could mandate that all domain name sales must be for an identical flat rate and domain parking would be solved overnight. But yes a domain is convenient and is worth the ~$15 per year. But I do wish one of the alternate DNS would become popular enough to incorporate into browsers.
It wouldn't even have to break the existing domains, just use an unused TLD like .web (oh guess that's taken) like .gay (oh that's taken too) like .niggerfaggot and direct all those domain lookups to different DNS servers.

>someone already has the leases on those domains
>they have put said leases up for sale
>if you buy said leases, you still have to renew the lease if you want to continue to exercise control over the domains

Getting rid of DNS is among the first steps to fixing the Internet.

I had a bunch of non .com TLDs and they are a waste of money. I would tell people me project's address is "project.cooltld" and they would go to browser and type "project.cooltld.com".Those TLD faggots are increasing their prices for their shitty products. Guess who isn't renewing their domains that are not .com.

Its long time for a alternative DNS system, no need for tor or alternative networks, for most things its enough to just have an alternative for DNS, modern, decentralized, potentially anonymous, DNS is a centralized trojan horse

With proof of work becoming ubiquitous due to aishitters, browsers need a dedicated proof of work API. If nothing else but to equalize the regular joe with a scraper's script.
A DNS alternative could be welcome as well, even if it's just
>sign each other's keys
>sign a statement saying "url.whatever" points here
something like web of trust
