He was partly right but I don't really understand his concept of "surrogate activities." He seemed to think we're supposed to suffer like cave men and anything that makes it easier to obtain food and shelter is bad. I agree with his sentiment, though. I think the Amish have the right idea. They do not automatically reject technology, but they come together as a community to discuss how a certain technology will affect them and decide whether or not to adopt it. They often use technology in their business life that they keep out of their home life. I like that.

He’s right. Ask any post grad in your local maths department. They talk about how solving complex problems will do this and that, but in the end they just find it fun like doing a crossword.
Mathematics is just a high complex crossword puzzle. High tier math models solve very little unless they have physical application.

Sounds like more of a education+workforce problem. Technology didn't do anything but magnify the problem. You can be replaced by anyone, human or nonhuman, regardless of your skills. If I could breed a dog that can sculpt with its anus I sure as hell would and kick that old dude out the door and many companies and businesses would gladly do the same just to save a penny."Technology" is just an outlet for people too scared to go after the real problem and that fear is the mind killer that makes you too retarded to see the truth and that truth is nobody cares that you think you're special.
