Vega Nano was great, I really wish I could've gotten one. IIRC it didn't actually come out, but Sapphire's Vega Pulse used the same PCB and you could put custom heatsinks/waterblocks on it which were nano sized.Wish we could go back to cards like those but nowadays you need 350mm long 4 slot coolers on a 200W card for some fucking reason.

Kepler were the backbone of my first workstation, GTX Titan, K6000, and sometime I'd like to get an M6000. Even modern software rendering using a cpu with higher core count still comes about 15-25 seconds short of my K6000.

i got a used gigabyte 1050ti on 2022 (i was on high school), and oh boy, that was a great upgrade from the good ol' gt710 (<- still better than the old laptop GPU 810M), and i enjoyed it for almost four years! The only issue was just the fan cranks itself 100% 24/7 cause the controller crapped itself, but using a headphone helps a bit. And i was a dumbass because i did not realize that my 2nd gen i5 bottlenecks slightly my computer, so there's stutters on heavy games I also modeled a random-ass plate on last year of HS, though it's pointless because my computer's side panel is not clear. Now, i have a used (again) 3070 on a "new" computer, not as crazy of a upgrade then when i got the 1050ti, but it's pretty nice, as it makes way less noise (fan controller is not broken + 100w limit because why not, and even then, it's still more powerful)

The 7970 was such ridiculous performance for the time, the Sapphire one I had was binned enough to be a 950MHZ card out of the box, and of you cranked the power limit all the way, it would do 1GHZ core 6000MHz effective mem easily, could've gone higher but thats what I ran stable

Best card I had was the 780 GTX, could play everything I could throw at it on max settings until 2015, back when flagships only cost $500. Worst card was the 8800GTX, died a few days after the warranty expired. Pretty sure most of them died due to critical design failures.

Fan cost was 6 € and 2 weeks of waiting, but should double the value to sell on Ebay until I eventually can power the 4K160 monitor I just got.The card would suffice but sadly it has no DSC. Seems like I need a RTX 2000 for sure, they also have no DLSS, so the best you get is FSR3 with optiscalers fake DLSS. Thats likely why RTX 2000 are still so overpriced, new DLSS is a real gamechanger on lowend stuff. I would otherwise buy a 5700 XT again, but paying over 100 for a card that is just inferior is not an option. And FSR4 on RDNA1 will likely never be possible.For ultra budget I currently see nothing better than the 970, start at 15 €, twice the performance of a 1050 and the 3.5 don't matter as much as you should not expect highend performance of it. Its still superior to a 1050 Ti.Actually even the 960 is a bit faster than that, but the 2 GB hold it back.

Still have a 1050ti in a HP elite boxed up, was my gateway into PC gaming as it blew my mind you could just slap that card in anything and not need external power. Idk if it counts in this thread but I've been slowly working on a Xeon/GTX1660ti dell precision trying to figure out cooling on it since it definitely is still a very capable PC that I plan to hook up to my TV. The CPU on it runs warm and Dell put all their engineering into cooling the ram and nothing else for some reason.

I have a 1070ti with a freshly applied arctic mx-4 thermal paste. I dont know how to deal with hardware stuff so the guy who sold me the pc did that for me. I've now learned a lot more about pcs since I got a remotely even for gaming one. is it really true that thermal pastes have to be constantly replaced (like every 6-12 months) once it no longer has the stock paste, or is that only an issue on newer cards like rtx 3070? I've read it draws way more power so its more of an issue, but I'd like to know if that's objectively true. also, weirdly enough, most people who complain about thermal paste often say to get a pad like ptm7950, overclock their gpus, or are from countries like phillippines. not saying this with ill intent just a trend i've noticed lol.
