I want to get a custom extra long overcoat made (budget 1k+) and am interested in having something sewn on the inside for holding a handgun specifically a g26. Is this retarded? Any advice from either the clothing or firearms side?

You dont want to carry the gun off body. You likely want an IWB holster.

Not advisable because you might forget that the gun is on the jacket and not on you via a holster which can lead to the gun being stolen, dropped and an accidental/negligent discharge, but with bespoke you could say that the sky is your limit**your budget and the tailor's skill is the actual limit.

Get your tailor to make your coat fit around your body and the holster.

Try an off the rack CCW jacket first (like in your pic), just to see if you like the fit and the weight distribution. there are holsters made to be sewn in so it's not unheard of, just kinda expensive and limiting. otherwise some jackets have velcro attachments for regular holsters. Some also have a support frame sewed in the layers so it distributes weight to the back. But honestly it is retarded because if you're going to wear an overcoat, you can conceal basically anything anywhere in any configuration. You can easily do OWB with an overcoat. You might as well get a shoulder holster because if your ccw is on the jacket you can't take it off. A shoulder holster will also just be more comfortable. Or you can do pocket carry, outside and inside pockets are plenty spacious. You can get a flap sewn on or some kind of extra closure so that it's more secure.

Eh, I'd advise against this. I'd totally end up accidentally carrying into a no firearm zone if not for the holster reminding me

I don’t see why you’d want to do that.
