Due to an unfortunate accident my newly adopted cat had a "De-gloving event" on the end of her tail.
The rest of the tail later had to be amputated due to an infection. I'm happy to report that she has healed up nicely, and will have no long term negative health effects aside from the obvious.
A few days later I found the tip of her tail (pic related) sandwiched under the lid of a wooden chest lid. Naturally I was horrified but after the emotions subsided I was left with a macabre but ultimately very soft and sentimental piece of a family member I love dearly and I can't bring myself to dispose of it.
Furthermore I'm queer and have been curious about wearing one, unique, earring.
So I want to turn it into an earring.
I'm looking for advice on how to go about this without damaging it or putting clearly visible connectors through the tail itself. Ideally I want it to dangle just above my shoulder with some beads or gemstones hanging on below the body of chain the tail should dangle on.
Currently the tail is covered in salt to aid in the preserving process though it was fully dried out when I found it and it does not smell at all.
I'm looking for suggestion on where to buy pieces for constructing something like this and how to do it cleanly and safely. Thank you! <3

I get you're asking "how" not "should I", but that sounds like an awful idea for many reasons. Just on a practical level, that tail will start looking pretty ratty pretty fast, especially since it sounds like you want this to be your signature gay earring or what have you. Think oils etc from your skin. Most people would also find this quite gross, but that of course depends on who your circle are. Also your poor cat lmao, hell be staring at his amputated tail all day, I wonder if he would recognize it?Imo this would be better hanging from between two windows or on a wall or something. In any case, I'd wait till it's dry and cured, then pierce either the bottom rink of the chain or a separate metal ring through the bottom. If you need it to be tough super glue it into a small cap that a chain can attach to. You can buy everything you need in any shop with beads and jewelery or a generally diy/arts and crafts shop.
