the problem with most chronos is that retard manchildren buy them and they're all about getting the thickest, biggest, dumbest looking watches possible, so there's no incentive for Rolex or Omega to slim the cases down since it would probably alienate the majority of their customer base. sucks cause i would love an automatic chrono one day that isn't thicker than a stack of hockey pucks

I'm getting out of watches.I bought a replica Cartier Santos-Dumont in steel. (The real one is quartz anyway and the watch is so simple that duplicating it perfectly is easy.) The replica strap was shit so I bought a real Cartier strap. Total cost, a little over 500 dollars. My lifestyle (my job, level of educational attainment, where I live, social circle, etc) is enough to convince people that I could by a 5,200 dollar watch so no one questions whether it's real. (Also, Cartier has some fucking balls charging that much for a steel quartz watch.)I don't want any other watches and, honestly, I almost never wear a watch anyway. I wore one every day for over a decade then stopped about five years ago. I never picked the habit up again even when all the work-from-home stuff ended. I've been selling off all my other watches for the last year or so. I wear the Cartiain't when I get dressed up to go out, which is usually only about two or three times per week.One less thing to be stressed about.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I'm turning 30 soon. My friends wanna make me a great gift, and I was thinking of either an Orient Kamasu or a Seiko Alpinist. I'm aware of the price difference and I don't want my friends paying too much individually. I might contribute as well, but I'd prefer not to, since the boys aren't sold on that idea at all. I'm leaning towards the Kamasu, generally it'd be way more practical as the dive bezel will let me time my swimming sessions more easily. The compass on the alp is cool and all but mostly it's just for looks in my eyes. But I won't lie, the alpinist looks hella great to me, especially the green + cathedral hands.I dress casual 99% of the time, and I do have an orient sun and moon for dressier occasions. I do lots of outdoors stuff and hella swimming. The Seiko movement doesn't seem all that much better, I don't give a fuck about the power reserve to be honest. In fact, it seems rather grossly overpriced.Thoughts? And sorry for the essay.
