My journey in search of the perfect leather fragrance begins. Today I tried these two; first impressions:>Chanel Cuir de Russie EDP Classic Chanel opening with aldehyde notes, a very classic, old-fashioned perfume. Floral heart, the jasmine is quite rich, with hints of rose and citrus. It's powdery. I don't detect any leather at all. In the dry-down, I can detect something smoky; with a little imagination, I can conjure up the leather in my mind.>Tom Ford Ombre Leather EDP 18 I had high expectations for this one. Total disappointment. It's a watered-down Tascan Leather with a sweet note that overpowers the leather accord. It's not at all a refined version of Tascan Leather. Where are the floral nuances? It improves slightly in the dry-down, but like Tascan Leather, I detect a certain fecal note that I don't like.Overall, I'm disappointed with these two, but I must continue trying the decants; perhaps I'll change my mind.Thanks for reading my blog.P.S. 1: Both perfumes come in beautiful bottles.P.S. 2: Tomorrow I'm trying a new decant of Tascan Leather and possibly Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours.

Finally got the Collection Noire 5ml discovery set from Serge Lutens & goddamn, you guys weren't lying. L'orphaline & Ambre Sultan are genuinely amazing scents. The other two are great as well (Nuit de Cellophane in particular) just not something I'd wear.I'll have to take out a loan to buy a full bottle of either, but I do really want to.

SOTD : Mefisto Gentiluomo Clean, elegant, a little more powdery than I would have liked. Good longevity for a fresh non-offensive summer scent. Bottle design is a winner for me. Overall a pleasant blind buy, I think if it had been marginally less powdery I would use it as a signature for summer.

>SOTD: Maison Alhambra Megara Megamare dupe. Close enough, bought a 10ml decant just to wear while im staying in a warm climate for a short time. The longevity is great. They added a bit of white florals in the drydown which gives it a soapy vibe but it’s not too distracting.Speaking about marine frags, there’s something about Acqua di Gio line that disgusts me. It smells like a rotten fruit. I can smell it the most in Profumo flanker. I think this is the calone molecule, right?

The Quest for the Leather Fragrance. Vol. IIToday I wore Ombre Leather, and my initial impressions stand by. I received a compliment, but I don't care. It's much worse than Tuscan Leather, a watered-down version with a sweet note.Then I tried two new decants:>Tom Ford Tuscan Leather I think it's much better than OL. Smoky nuances that aren't present in OL. The fruity raspberry note blends masterfully with the leather. It has a touch of sweat; perhaps it contains cumin, it's subtle, but I don't like that detail. A good impression of this one, but I wouldn't buy it. The bottle is beautiful.>Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours A honey opening, think of the honey in Givenchy Gentleman 1974. Herbal and floral nuances, and then a smoky note comes in. I don't really smell the leather here; it's there, but it's not the main focus. Disappointing.Thanks for reading my blog.P.S. Anyone here with a bottle or sample of Profumum Patchouly that can comment on it? I love a nice masculine, earthy patchouli that lasts forever. TF Patchouli Absolu is my favorite but I can't find it anymore unless I pay an arm and leg for a used bottle, and Jovoy Psychedelique leans a little too feminine for my nose despite everyone saying it's unisex.It finally showed up near my area but the place doesn't have it for sample, might actually pull the trigger cause I'd have to pay up to my eyeballs in customs if I buy it directly from the Profumum website.
